The Speaker laid before the House the following report of
the Commissioner of Immigration in response to an order of the
House:

BALTIMORE, February 25, 1867.
To the Honorable,

Speaker of the House of Delegates of Maryland:

SIR:—In response to an order of the House of Delegates,
passed February 20, 1867:

"That the Commissioner of Immigration inform this
House what amount of the public money has been expended
by him since the last session of the General Assembly, and
for what specific purpose. I herewith respectfully report: That
then tire amount expended by me, for which the State has been
charged, is one thousand eight hundred and ninety-five dol-
lars and thirty-five cents, for the following specific purposes:

Publications..................................... $509 00

Advertising ......................... ....... 196 34

Posta'ge ..................... ..... ............ 12000

Office Rent................................... 375 00

Office Funiture.............. .................. 285 08

Office Boy, $5 per week......................... 180 00

Office Signs.................................. 65 47

Stationery ....................................... 104 25

Gas and Fuel..... ............................. 2966

Incidental .......... .......................... 30 45

$1.895 35

The amount expended by me and not charged to the State
is $375 additional to the sum above named for office rent, and
about $200 travelling expenses.

The bills for expenses named were audited and passed by
the Board of Public Works before being presented for pay-
ment..
