The Journal of Thursday was read and approved.

The Speaker laid before the House the petition of forty-
two gas consumers of the city of Annapolis, praying such
amendment in the charter of the Annapolis Gas Light Com-
pany as will cause a reduction in the present price of gas;

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Public
Buildings.

Also, the following

REPORT:

COCKEYSVILLE, Baltimore county, Feb. 21, 1867.
HON. O. MILLER,

Speaker of House of Delegates of Maryland:

Sir :—In answer to the communication of the Clerk of the
House of Delegates, of the 19th instant, informing me that
the House had, on the 15th day of February, passed an order
requesting the County Commissioners of Baltimore county to
inform them why the claim of the Union Bank of Maryland
has not been paid for monies advanced for School purposes,
in the first Election District of Baltimore county, in 1832.
I can only answer that I have never had any knowledge of
such indebtedness, to the best of my memory.

REPORT:

COCKEYSVILLE, Balto. county, Feb. 21, 1867.
HON. OLIVER MILLER,

Speaker of the House of Delegates of Maryland:

Sir :—In answer to an order which passed the House of
Delegates on the 15th instant, I respectfully state that Bal-
timore county is indebted as follows :

1st. One hundred and one thousand ($101,000) dollars
bonds issued to pay the city of Baltimore for purchase of the
city of Baltimore's interest in the Alms House property.

2d. Twenty-one thousand ($21,000) in bonds to defray the
expenses of erecting Court House.

3d. About thirty thousand ($30,000) dollars due the Sav-
ings Bank, of Baltimore for monies borrowed for same pur-
poses.
