Mr. Kerr proposed the following amendment:

" And it shall be incumbent upon this Board to keep open
the Choptank river from its mouth to a distance of five .miles
above the town of Cambridge in all weather and under all
cirumstances ;

Mr. Ford moved the previous question;

Which was sustained.

The question then being,

"Shall the previous question be now put ?"

It was sustained.

The question then recurring upon the amendment proposed
by Mr. Kerr,

It was rejected.

The bill was then read a second time.

Mr. Neilsou moved a suspension of the rules to give the
bill a third reading;

Which was not sustained.
On motion of Mr. Ford,

The bill was made the Order of the Day for Thursday, 21st
inst., at one o'clock.

On motion of Mr. Neilson,

The House took up for consideration the bill entitled, an
Act to provide for the running of the Baltimore City Passen-
ger Railway Carson Sunday, supplementary to an Act to incor-
porate the Baltimore City Passenger Railway Company,
passed February 13th, 1862, chapter 71;

Said bill being upon its third reading,

The bill was then read a third time and passed by yeas
and nays as follow :
