4S4 JOURNAL OP PROCEEDINGS Feb. 19,

incorporate ths village of Church Creek, in Dorchester
county;

Also, the Senate bill entitled, an Act to incorporate the
Chestertown Water Company ;

Which were severally read a second time.

Also, reported favorably a bill entitled, an Act to incorpo-
rate the United States Real Estate Mining and Manufacturing
Company of Maryland ;

Which was read a first time.

Mr. Dawson, from a Select Committee, reported favorably
a bill entitled, an Act to incorporate Howard Lodge No. 119,
of Ancient, Free and Accepted Masons ;

Which was read a first time.

Mr. Stevens, (the Rules being suspended,) offered the fol-
lowing :

Ordered, That when this House adjourns on Thursday
next, it adjourns until Saturday, in commemoration of the
birthday of the " Father of his Country ;" which,

On motion of Mr. Boswell,
Was laid on the table.

Mr. Jump, from a Select Committee, reported favorably a
bill entitled, an Act for the extension of the powers of the
Bailiff of the town of Easton, in Talbot county ;

Which was read a first time.

Mr. Gorsuch, the rules being suspended, presented the pe-
tition of Isaac Cronise and fifty-five other citizens of Freder-
ick county, against any legislative action interfering with ex-
isting laws for the observance of the Christian Sabbath;

Which was read and referred to Select Committe on Sun-
day Law.

Mr. Waltemeyer presented the memorial of sundry citi-
zens of Baltimore in favor of increasing the license on shoe
findings and leather;

Which was read and referred to Committee on Ways and
Means.

Mr. King, from a Select Committee, made the following
REPORT

On the petition of sundry citizens of Savage, in Howard
county, praying the passage of a law prohibiting the sale of
intoxicating liquor within two miles of said village.
