Aydelott, Gordy, Wilson, Spicer, McCulley, McCulloh, De-
vecmon, Brydon, Carmichael, Neale, Wampler, Gore, Daw-
son, King, Hammond—63.

The Journal of yesterday was read and approved.

The Speaker apointed Mr. Devecmon on the Committee on
Militia, on Public Buildings and on Currency; and Mr. Bry-
don on the Committee on Internal Improvements and on the
Library, in place of Messrs. Gilpin and Haller.

Mr. Clarke presented the petition of thirty citizens of 3d
Election District, against stock running at large;

Also, the petition of forty citizens of 3d Election District,
Baltimore county, against stock running at large;

Also, the petition of eighty citizens of 3d Election District
of Baltimore county, praying for a law to prevent stock run-
ning at large;

Which were severally read and referred to Committee on
Agriculture.

Mr. Hoffhine presented the petition of citizens of Smiths-
burg, Washington county, asking an Act of incorporation to
a company to construct a turnpike from Smithsburg to Liet-
ersburg;

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Corpor-
ations.

Mr. Boswell presented the petition of E. Farrell and five
hundred other citizens, praying the passage of a law making
eight hours a legal days work for mechanics;

Which was read and referred to the Committee on the Ju-
diciary.

Mr. Smith presented the petition of Wm. Gather and eth-
ers, praying the passage of a law making eight hours a legal
days work for mechanics;

Which was read and referred to the Committee on the Ju-
diciary.

Mr. Flaherty presented the petition of John A. Reed and
five hundred other citizens, praying the passage of the bill
making eight hours a legal days work;

Mr. Robson presented the petition of James Wardell and
three hundred other citizens asking the passage of a law
making eight hours a legal days work for mechanics;

Which were read and severally referred to the Committee
on the Judiciary.
