Mr. Bixler, (the rules being suspended,) presented the peti-
tion of J. L. McPhail, claiming payment for services ren-
dered the State in collecting of arms by appointment of Gov.
A. W. Bradford;
Also, the petition of J. L. McPhail, for services rendered
in detecting frauds in bounty claims;
Which were severally read and referred to the Committee
on Claims.
Mr. Stevens, (the rules being considered as further sus-
pended,) presented the petition of R. M. J. Barker, W. M.
Soper, T. H. Peregoy and 33 others against any modification
of the existing Sunday Law;
Which was read and referred to the Select Committee on
Sunday Law.
On motion of Mr. Waltemeyer,
Leave was granted the Committee on Corporations to in-
troduce a bill entitled, an Act to amend an Act entitled, an
Act to incorporate the Franklin Turnpike Road Company,
passed March 10th, 1828, chapter 186, by providing for an
increase of tolls on said road;
Also, leave for a Special Committee composed of the Balti-
more county delegation and the delegation representing the
Third Legislative District of Baltimore city, to introduce a
bill to incorporate the Gwinn's Falls Bridge Company of the
Washington road.
On motion of Mr. Hutton,
Leave was granted Committee on Roads and Highways to
introduce a bill to amend an Act to incorporate the Union
Plank and Turnpike Road Company, passed at December
Session, 1849.
