The undersigned further reports that since tho expiration
of the Act of 1865, chapter 146, there have been a number
of instruments of writing presented to this office for re-record,
but the parties presenting them have been informed that
there is now in existence no law under which they can be
properly re-recorded, although they would be received as new
papers when paid for by the party presenting them.
In the judgment of the undersigned, they cnnnot be re-
stored without further legislation.
The undersigned would respectfully recommend that the
General Assembly, pass an Act authorizing the Clerk of the
Circuit Court for Baltimore county, to receive and record in
their proper places, all instruments, the record of which has
been destroyed by fire, presented for record at the usual cost
of recording, and to examine, endorse and order to be re-re-
corded, all confirmatory instruments intended to supply the
place of those destroyed by fire, and to order the binding of
