Mr. Linthicum submitted the following amendment:

Strike out the first three lines of sub section 10, and insert
the following in lieu thereof, "all General officers will be ap-
pointed by the Governor, by and with the advice and consent
of the Senate, or by the Governor during the recess of the
Senate, all regimental and battalion officers shall be elected
by the ballots of the commissioned company officers."

Which was rejected.

Mr. Davis of Baltimore city, submitted the following amend-
ment:

Sub-section 7, line 3, insert after the word "officer" the
words "of the regiment or independent company;"
Which was adopted.
Mr. Burche submitted the following amendment:

Strike out in line 5, sub-section 2, page 3, after the word
"office," the words "and their respective clerks;"
