to have refunded to him the taxes for 1861, 1862, 1863, 1864,
and 1865, on certain lands in Allegany county ;

And asked to be discharged from the further considera-
tion of the subject.

Upon motion of Mr. Criswell,
The rules being suspended,

Ordered, That James V. Criswell have leave of absence
until Monday next, to enable him to attend to pressing busi-
ness.

On motion of Mr. Davis, of Charles,
The rules being suspended,

Leave was granted Messrs. Davis, of Charles, Williams,
and Magruder, to introduce a bill to limit the salaries of the
President and Commissioners of Public Schools, in the several
counties, and the Secretaries thereof.

The rules being suspended,

Mr. Stevens submitted the following order:

Ordered, That when this House 'adjourns, it stands ad-
journed until this evening at 8 o'clock, to consider only bills
on their second and third readings.

Which was rejected.

Mr. Kerr, from the Committee on Printing submitted the
following report:

To the General Assembly of Maryland :

The Joint Committee on Printing to whom was referred
the communication from the Comptroller in obedience to an
order passed by both branches of the General Assembly, rel-
ative to the contract system of printing, with the names of
bidders and the prices paid; and also in compliance with
order passed by the House, as to the relative cost of the con-
tract system and tha. former mode of electing a printer, beg
leave to report that they have given the matter serious con-
sideration, and submit the following as the result of their
deliberations:

For the printing of the Convention of 1864, there were
three bidders viz :

R. P. BAYLY.

1,000 copies Journal and Proceedings, $2.25 per page.

1,000 copies Debates, - 3.30 per page.

20 quires of Yeas and Nays, 90 per quire.

BULL & TUTTLE.

1,000 copies Journal and Proceedings, $3.00 per page.

1,000 copies Debates, - 4.00 per page.

20 quires Yeas and Nays, 2.00 per quire.
