Ordered, That the Chief Clerk direct the Folder of the
House to furnish; the Governor with 500 copies of his late
Message to the General Assembly.

On motion of Mr. Bishop,

Ordered, That a Special Committee of (3) three be ap-
pointed by the Speaker for the purpose of ascertaining from
the present owner of the land upon which Fort Frederick,in
Washington county, now stands, whether and upon what
terms, a lot containing not less than (3) three nor more than
five acres, including the Fort, can be purchased by the State;

Messrs. Bishop, Haller and Poole, were constituted said
committee.

Mr. Magruder offered the following:

Ordered, That; the President of the Baltimore and Ohio
Railroad Company, be requested to inform the General As-
sembly, what amount of work has been performed under his
directions towards the construction of the Metropolitan Rail-
road, from the Point of Rocks to the District of Columbia,
how far the same has progressed and how long it will require
at the present rate of progress to complete said road.

Further, that be be requested to state what in his opinion
will be a fair estimate of the proceeds from travel, tonnage
and freight expenses, which upon the completion of the road,
will be directed from the main stem of the Baltimore and
Ohio Railroad, and from the Washington Branch of said
road.

Mr, Ford moved to lay the order on the table ;

Which was decided in the negative.

The question recurring upon the order,

Mr. Burche moved to strike out all after the word "Road"

Mr. Ford moved to lay the amendment on the table,

Which was decided in the negative.

The question recurring upon the amendment proposed by
Mr. Burche,

It was decided in the negative.

The question then recurring upon the order of Mr. Magru-
der,

It was adopted.

The Secretary of the Senate returned the Resolutions di-
recting the Comptroller to adjust and settle claims of Mary-
land soldiers ;

Endorsed, " passed by yeas and nays."

Also, returned the bill entitled an Act to refund taxes
erroneously paid by William Gilmor and Robert Gilmor, Jr.
