On motion of Mr. Evans,

Ordered by the House of Delegates, That all motions to
print extra copies of any message, report or document shall
be referred to the Committee on-Printing, whose duty it shall
be to report to the House the number of pages which the said
document, when printed, will contain; the cost thereof, and
what number of copies, in the judgment of said Committee,
is required for the use of the House. It shall also be the
duty of said Committee to report from time to time upon the
condition of the Public Printing in respect to the quality of
paper, printing And execution in general; whether the same
is in compliance with contract and upon its cost; and the said
Committee shall have power to report at any time. And it
is further ordered that any number of documents beyond one
for each member of the House aad Senate, and ten for the use
of the Clerk's office, to be under the control of the Speaker,
shall be considered an extra number.

Also, submitted the following:

BY THtf HOUSE OF DELEGATES,

January 24th, 1867.
Gentlemen of the Senate:

We respectfully propose, with the concurrence of your Hon-
orable Body, that the two Committees on Printing in each
House act as a Joint Committee on Printing, whose duty it
shall be to see that the contract for printing is faithfully
complied with, who shall from time to time report to the two
Houses the condition and cost of the Public Printing and the
quality of paper used; and to whom shall be referred all mo-
tions to print more than one hundred copies of any report,
message or document; said Committee to have power to re-
port at any time.

Chief Clerk.

Mr. Stevens proposed the following amendment:

"That the action of said Committee shall not affect the
printing already ordered;"
