On motion of Mr. Hammond,
Referred to Judiciary Committee.
The hour of 12 o'clock having arrived, in compliance with
the adjournment of yesterday, and in conformity with the Act
of Congress, chapter 245, entitled, "an Act to regulate the
time and manner of holding elections for Senators in Con-
gress," the Senators of Maryland, appeared in the Hall of the
House, and the two bodies conjointly, proceeded to hold an
election for Senator to succeed the Hon. John A. J. Creswell,
in the Congress of the United States.
The roll of Senators and Members of the House of Dele-
gates being called, it appeared by a viva voce vote of each Sen-
ator and Member present (a majority of all the members elec-
ted to both Houses being present and voting) that:
