Which were read the first time-
Mr. Carmichael from the Committee on the Judiciary, re-
ported favorably a bill entitled, an Act to repeal an Act passed
at December session, 1864, chapter 129, adding additional
sections to the 44th article of the Code of Public General
Laws, title Maryland Hospital;

Which was read the first time.

Mr. Wilson from a Select Committee, reported favorably
the bill entitled an Act, supplementary to the Act of 1866,
chapter 24, entitled, an Act to authorize the commissioners
of the Town of Havre de Grace, to sell certain lots in said
town,

Which was read the first time.

Mr. Neilson from a Select Committee, reported favorably
a bill entitled, an Act to repeal sections 806, 807, 808, 809,
810, 811, 812, 813, 814, 815, 816, 817, 818, 819, 820, 821 and
822 of article 4, of the Code of Public Local Laws of the city of
Baltimore, and the additional articles adopted by the Act of
the General Assembly, passed at the session of 1860, chapter
6, the additional sections adopted by the Act of the General
Assembly, at the session of 1860, chapter, 46; the additional
sections adopted by the Act of the General Assembly, passed
at the session of 1864, chapter 42; the additional sections
adopted by the Act of the same session of 1864, chapter 244;
and the 3d section of the Act of the session of 1865, chapter
46; for the establishment of a Police Force for the city of
Baltimore, and to re-enact with amendments;

Which was recommitted and ordered to be printed.

Mr. Appleman, from a Select Committee, reported favor-
ably a bill entitled, an Act to incorporate the Farmers' and
Mechanics' Mutual Insurance Company of Washington
County;

Which was read the first time.

The hour of twelve o'clock having arrived, in compliance
with the adjournment yesterday, and in conformity with the
Act of Congress, chapter 245, entitled, an Act to regulate
the time and manner of holding elections for Senators in
Congress, the Senators of Maryland, appeared in the Hall
of the House, and the two bodies conjointly proceeded
to hold an election for Senator to succeed the Hon.
John A. J. Cresswell in the Congress of the United States.

The roll of Senators and members of the House of Dele-
gates being called, it appeared by a viva voce vote of each Sena-
tor and member present, (a majority of all the members
elected to both Houses being present and voting,) that:

Ezekial F. Chambers, received 4 votes.
John A. J. Creswell, " 7 "
