On motion of Mr. Clarke,
Ordered, That it be entered upon the Journal that Mr.
Cameron, of Baltimore county, would have voted aye, upon
the resolutions endorsing President Johnson and Governor
Swann, had he been present.
On motion of Mr. Clarke,
Ordered, That the Chief Clerk of the House be authorized
to supply the committee rooms and House with such furni-
ture as may be required.
On motion of Mr. Hammond,
Ordered, That the Speaker appoint a committee of five
members, consisting of one from each of the Counties of
Frederick, Montgomery, Howard, Carroll and Baltimore, and
one from the city of Baltimore, who shall enquire and report
to this House by bill or otherwise, whether the public inter-
est requires the establishment of State Hay Scales in the city
of Baltimore, in convenient proximity to the Baltimore and
Frederick turnpike road.
The Speaker appointed Messrs. Hammond, Gorsuch, Hutton,
Shipley, Israel and Gore in accordance with the above order.
On motion of Mr. Whitaker,
Ordered, That it be entered on the Journal that Mr.
Magraw, of Cecil, is detained from his seat by the death of a
near neighbor and friend
On motion of Mr. Phelps,
Ordered, That Edward A. Marshall of Dorchester county,
act as assistant Post Master of this House, in place of Samuel
R. Kirby of Baltimore city, and that Samuel R. Kirby act as
assistant Folder of this House, in place of John C. Wise of
Allegany county, and. that John C. Wise act as Page of this
House, in place of Edward A. Marshall, of Dorchester
county.
Mr. Thomas submitted the following message:
BY THE HOUSE OF DELEGATES,
January 9th, 1867.
Gentlemen of the Senate:
We have received your message of the 8th instant, request-
ing the return of a message transmitted from your Honorable
Body on the 4th instant, asking the appointment of a Joint
Committee of ten, an equal number from each House, to re-
port a bill for the enfranchisement and restoration to rights
of citizenship of certain citizens of this State. In compliance
with your request, the message is herewith returned.
