The Senate adjourned until to-morrow at 12 o'clock, M.

THURSDAY, February 7, 1867.

The Lieutenant Governor being absent from the seat of
government;

On motion by Mr. Stephenson,

The Honorable James T. Earle, of Queen Anne's county,
was elected President pro tempore.

Mr. Earle accordingly assumed the duties of the Chair.

Mr. Kimmell presented the petition of the President and
Directors of the Childrens' Aid Society of Baltimore, for an
appropriation therein mentioned ;

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Finance.

Mr. Kimmell presented the petition of Lambert Gittings
and 19 citizens of Baltimore city, for the repeal of the assess-
ment Act;

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Judicial
Proceedings.

Mr. Bowie presented the memorial of Charles M. Dough"
erty, John Merryman and other merchants and citizens of
Baltimore, praying the General Assembly not to alter or
amend the charter of the Baltimore and Potomac Rail Road
Company;

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Internal
Improvements.

Mr. Bowie presented the memorial of C. Schumaker and
other merchants of Baltimore city, praying the Legislature
not to alter or amend the charter of the Baltimore and Poto-
mac Rail Road Company;

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Inter-
nal Improvements.
