take from their parents, those who are neglected, and after
clothing them, they are provided with good country homes,
where their temporal and spiritual wants are carefully atten-
ded to and they are prepared to be good and useful men and
women, and members of society. The Institution is under
the eharge of noble, philanthropic citizens, aided by Wm. C.
Palmer, Esq., their agent, who are very discreet in the
selection of homes for these poor outcasts, and they have tes-
timony of many encouraging results of their Christian kind-
ness. To secure the permanent establishment and workings
of the society, an appropriation of $1000, is asked, and your
Committee feel bound to recommend it.

MARYLAND DISABLED SOLDIER'S HOME.

This is an Institution, under the care of a number of chari-
table ladies, who are zealously endeavoring to provide a home
for disabled Maryland Soldiers, and it is truly an institution
which commends itself to the kindest consideration of your
Honorable Bodies. By your action, large bounties were of-
fered for volunteers, and if by your agency, these now crip-
pled and helpless, but brave men left their homes, and by
the chances of war are now deprived of the means and facul-
ties by which they could support their families and children,
is it not your duty to provide for them some substitute for
the comforts they surrendered for your peace and comfort ?—
The present home is altogether unfitted for the purposes of
the ladies in charge, and the 67 unfortunates within its hos-
pitable doors, are not provided for as they should be, on ac-
count of the meagreness of the accommodations with which
the ladies are supplied, and the want of means to secure premi-
ses more ample. Your committee recommend some relief for
this noble and deserving charity, believing it to be one de-
serving of your kind and sympathetic consideration, and that
your appropriation will not be misdirected or misapplied, but
serve to relieve many cases of sad affliction and misfortune.—
We suggest an appropriation of $5000.
