amount to less than fifty cents for each round trip. Such a
practical result, of course, is more likely to be approximated
by persons residing at way stations, and doing business in

It must be gratifying to know that the wise legislation of
the State is producing beneficial results, and that this com-
pany, (although without a competitor between Baltimore and
Washington,) makes more liberal provision for the public
accommodation than many other railway companies are able
to make, even under most favorable circumstances. This is
the more gratifing, because, in accommodating the public,
the Washington Branch also contributes very largely to the
revenue of the State.
