The Clerk of the House of Delegates delivered the follow-
ing resolutions.

Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the
Hon. Reverdy Johnson, Senator from the State of Maryland,
in the Congress of the United States, in his support of the
reconstruction policy of President 'Johnson, which looks to
the pacification and cordial re-union of the entire country,
has exhibited the wisest statesmanship and the purest patrio-
tism, has faithfully and fairly represented the views and in-
terests of the people of this State, and is hereby tendered the
profound expression of their confidence and approval.

Resolved, That the people of Maryland are justly proud of
the unrivalled position as a constitutional lawyer which Mr.
Johnson has so signally won by the eminent learning and
eloquence which he has brought to the discussion of the grave
questions that now absord public interest, and which are to
shape the destiny of our beloved country;

Resolved, That the Governor is hereby requested to furnish
Mr. Johnson with a copy of these resolutions ;

Which were read the first time and referred to the Commit-
tee on Federal Relations.

Also delivered the bill entitled, an Act to repeal an Act
passed at the January Session of the General Assembly, in the
