On motion of Mr. Stirling,

Ordered to be printed.

Mr. Stephenson, from the Committee on Finance, reported
a bill entitled, an Act to appropriate fifteen thousand dollars
to the House of Refuge, in the city of Baltimore, to aid in
meeting the current expenses, and the further sum of ten
thousand dollars to be applied to the erection of a wing to
their present building ;

Which was read the first time.

On motion of Mr. Stephenson, it was

Ordered, That the Committee on Executive Nominations,
consist of five members.

The Chair appointed Messrs. Stephenson and Mackall, as
additional members of said committee.

The bill entitled, an Act to repeal the 1st section of Article
43 of the Code of Public Greueral Laws, title "Habeas Cor-
pus," and to re-enact the same with amendment,

Was read the second .time and ordered to be engrossed for
a third reading.

The bill entitled, an Act to compensate David C. Blocksom
Esq., for services rendered the State in prosecuting in the
casei of State versus Wm. B. Paca and Sons, for the murder
of John P. Paea, Jr., and Alfred Jones,

Having been read;

Mr. Vickers submitted the following amendment:

Section 1, strike out the word "one" and insert "two,"
before the word hundred ;

Which was read and adopted by yeas and nays as follow:
