Interrogatory 19th. Were the names of the 8 persons on
the list furnished you and above spoken of, also on the regis-
tration list of 1866 as qualified voters which was furnished
you by the register of your district on the day of election ?

Answer. I think they were; I think none of the eight
voted.

Interrogatory 20th. If those eight persons, or either of
them, had taken the oath you offered, would you then, with-
out any questioning, have received their votes ?

Answer. Some of them I would not, but in the case of A.
C. Hammil, had he appeared before me and taken the oath,
I would, as I advised him to take the oath; also, in the case
of Reason Turner; I would, but he said he had never taken
the oath, nor never would, had they answered all questions
satisfactorily, and there had been no evidence against them,
I would have received their votes.

S. W. FRIEND, re-axamined by Dr. Ohr. Did any of the
persons registered by you in 1865, as disqualified, vote at the
election in November, 1866 , if so, how many, and with
what political party do they act ?

Answer. I do not think any voted that I registered as dis-
qualified.

SAMUEL W. FRIEND.

there not quite one year, say 11 months.

Interrogatory 2nd, as No. 4 in Schedule B.

Answer. I did uot to my recollection.

Interrogatory 3rd, as No. 6 in Schedule B.

I heard no discharge of fire arms about the polls, but after
a good many of them, (the Conservatives) got about two
hundred yards from the polls down the lane, I heard the dis-
charge of fire arms; some of those who left in the party
Wm, Kitzmiller, Wm. Arnold, Jas. F. Liller, George M.
Mosser and others, saw twenty.

Interrogatory 4, as No. 7 in Schedule B.

I voted for Charles H. Ohr for State Senator; I believe
they were three miles from the Virginia State line,
at least eight miles from where the polls were held.

First Gross-interrogatory by A. Spates.

Did either of the parties mentioned in your answer to in-
terrogatory 3d, viz: Jas. F. Liller, Wm. Kitzmiller, Wm. Ar-
