tion District No. 5, in Allegany county, Maryland, on the
6th day of November, 1866, and did you see the ballots cast
. at said election, read, tallied and counted, were they careful-
ly and correctly read by the judges, and tallied and counted
by the Clerks of Election on that occasion; state fully their
mode of proceeding; to what political party do you belong;
and for whom did you vote for State Senator ?

Interrogatory 5th. Did the number of ballots in the ballot
box of said district at the close of the polls, and count, agree
with the number of persons who voted; if not, state the dif-
ference fully; if there were any deceitfully folded tickets,
what did you do with them, and whose name was on them
for State Senator ?

sidence and time of such residence?

Interrogatory 2nd. Are you, or was you acting as deputy
clerk in the office of the Clerk of the Circuit Court for Alle-
gany county, when did you enter on service in said office, and
wien were you sworn as such?

Interrogatory 3rd. Did you receive from the Judges of elec-
tion the poll books and ballots of the election held on the 6th
day of November 1866; when did you receive them, and what
disposition did you make of them, who examined them after
they were received and prior to the 17th day of November
1866, and in whose presence?

Interrogatory 4th. Did you after the election on the 6th
day of November 1866, at any time see the poll books and
ballots of said election or either of them; if so, at what times
and under what circumstances; state fully where you saw
them, in what condition; and who, if any one, had them in
hand and who was present?
