On motion of Mr. Waters,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Corporations to
introduce a bill incorporating a Mutual Fire Insurance Com-
pany for Somerset and Worcester counties.

Mr. Kimmell, from the Select Committee, reported a bill
entitled, an Act to repeal section 227 of Article 4 of the Code
of Public Local Laws relating to elections in the city of Bal-
timore, and to re-enact the same with amendments;

Which was read the first time.

Mr. Jump presented the petition of Thomas R. Robson,
praying compensation for printing proclamation of Governor;

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Finance.

The Clerk of the House of Delegates delivered the follow-
ing message :

BY THE HOUSE or DELEGATES,

January 24,1867.
Gentlemen of the Senate:

We respecfully propose, with the concurrence of your Hon-
orable Body, that the two Committees of Printing in each
House, act ag a Joint Committee on Printing, whose duty it
shall be to see that the contracts for printing are faithfully
complied with; who shall from time to time report to the two
Houses the condition and cost of the Public Printing, and
the quality of the paper used; and to whom shall be referred
all motions to print more than one hundred copies of any re-
port, message or documents, said committee to have power to
report at any time.

Chief Clerk.
Which was read, and

On motion of Mr. Earle,
Referred to the Committee on Printing.
Also, delivered a bill entitled, an Act to amend an Act en-
titled, an Act to incorporate a company for the purpose of
cutting and making a canal between the river Delaware and
the Chesapeake Bay, passed at November Session, 1799,
chapter 16, and also to amend a supplement thereto passed at
December Session, 1835, chapter 379 ;

Which was read the first time and referred to the Commit-
tee on Corporations.

Mr. Vickers presented the petition of sundry citizens of Bal-
timore, to preserve the Sabbath from desecration ;

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Judicial
Proceedings.
