The bill entitled, an Act to appropriate a sum of money to
pay J. H. Emmerson, R. K. Wimbrough, R. I'. Bayly, J.
T. Hande, Haverstick & Longneckers, for publishing' the
Laws of Session 1865;
Was taken up for consideration on its second reading.
Mr. Poteet submitted the following amendment:
To Carlton Rhoderick, editor of the Valley Register, the
sum of two hundred and seventeen, dollars and fifty cents;
E. Wells, editor of the Port Tobacco Times, the sum of two
hundred and twenty-three dollar and fifty cents; Win. H.
Council, editor of Easton Gazette, the sum of six hundred
and seventy-eight dollars; C. Fulton and Son, editors of the
Baltimore American, the sum of eight hundred and forty-
seven dollars and eighty-five cents; B. Everett Smith, editor
of Worcester Shield, the sum of six hundred and ten dollars
and fifty cents; James L. Downs, editor of St. Mary's Ga-
zette, the sum of six hundred and seventy-eight dollars;
Rummer & Usilton, editors of the Kent News, the sum of
five hundred and forty-five dollars and seventy-five cents;
Thomas S. Hodson, editor of the Somerset Herald, the sum of
five hundred and seventeen dollars; Thomas E. Ogden, editor
of the Cumberland Civilian, the sum of four hundred and
eighteen dollars; Win. Wales & Co., editors of the Balti-
more Clipper, the sum of one thousand three hundred and
sixty-one dollars; E. E. Ewing, editor of the Cecil Whig,
the sum of one hundred and sixteen dollars and fifty cents;
Geo. W. Wilson, editor of the Marlboro Gazette, the sum of
three hundred and seventy-four dollars; R. E. Bouldin, edi-
tor of the National American, the sum of five hundred and
thirty dollars; in each and every case for publishing Laws of
Session of 1805.
Which was adopted.
The bill having been read the second time, it was ordered
to be engrossed for a third reading.
The bill entitled, an Act to appropriate a sum of money
to pay J. E. and G. Monroe;
Was read the second time, and ordered to "be engrossed for
a third reading.
Mr. Williams moved that the rules be suspended, and the
House proceed to the consideration of bills, on their third
reading;
Which was decided in the negative.
The bill entitled, an Act to authorize the Mayor and City
Council of Baltimore to furnish aid towards the construction
