So the order was adopted,
- The Secretary of the Senate delivered joint resolutions
authorizing the Librarian to subscribe for one hundred copies
of second edition of a book entitled, a Treatise on the Cause
of Proceedings in the Common Law Courts of the State of
Maryland, by Hugh Davy Evans;
Which was read the first time.
Also, the following Senate bills:
An Act directing the Governor, Comptroller and Trea-
surer of this State to sell the dividend stock held and owned
by this State in the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad company,
and to apply the proceeds thereof in part payment of the
debt of this State;
An Act to authorize the Governor, Comptroller and Trea-
surer to sell two hundred shares of stock of the Union Manu-
facturing company held by the State, and to apply the pro-
ceeds to the liquidation of the debts of the State ;
An Act requiring the County Commissioners and the Re-
gister of' the city of Baltimore to report their respective pro-
ceedings, and settle their accounts under the bounty acts of
this State, and to account with the Comptroller, and to pay
over to the Treasurers the balances due by them thereon sev-
erally, and also to provide for the payment to claimants of
bounty any unsettled claims due to them, and to amend the
said bounty acts;
Which was read the first time and referred to the com-
mittee on Ways and Means.
Also the following House bills :
A Supplement to an Act to incorporate the Chesapeake
and Ohio Canal company, passed at December session, 1823,
chapter 140;
An Act to incorporate the Hagerstown Lumber and Coal
company ;
An Act to authorize the Mayor and City Council of Balti-
