Mr. Williams submitted the following amendment: At the end of 8th section add: "Provided, that all of the officers and employees shall be soldiers who have been hon- orably discharged from tire United States service;" Which was adopted. Mr. Slothower submitted the following amendment: Section 10, 5th line: After the word "on," strike out "said," and insert "either shore;" Which was adopted. Mr. McCauley submitted the following amendment: Section 10: After the ward "shore," add "or western," in 3d line; Which was adopted. Mr. Smith, of Dorchester, submitted the following amend- ment: Section 10, line 11: After the words "profit of," strikeout "ten" and insert "fifty," Which was rejected. Mr. Williams submitted the following amendment: Insert at the. end: "Provided that all of the officers and men employed under the provisions of this section shall be officers and men who have been honorably discharged from the United States army and navy, and all expenses shall be paid out of the State Treasury;" Mr. Pilkington submitted the following amendment to the amendment? Amend by striking out all after navy; Which was rejected. The question recurring upon the adoption of the amend- ment of Mr. Williams; It was decided in the affirmative. |
