office, by the persons, contained in section 4, of the first
article of the constitution of the State;
Which was read the first time.
Mr. Darling, from a Select committee, reported favorably
a bill entitled, an Act to authorize, empower and direct the
Board of School Commissioners for Calvert county, Maryland,
to sell certain bank stock held by them, for the benefit of the
public schools of said county, and to apply the proceeds to
educational purposes in said county;
Which was read the first time.
Also, favorably, a bill entitled, an Act to authorize, em-
power and direct the county commissioners of Calvert county
in the State of Maryland, to levy a direct tax on the assess-
able property of said county, for the purpose of paying off
the indebtedness of said county to the school, board of said
county;
Which was read the first time.
Mr. Rider, from a Select committee, reported favoraby a
bill entitled, an Act to prohibit the sale of spiritous liquors
in the village of Sharptown, in Somerset county;
Which was read the first time.
Mr. Buhrman, from a Select committee, reported favorably
a bill entitled, an Act to repeal section 2, of article 65, of the
Code of Public General Laws of this State, and to re-enact
the same with amendments;
Which was read. the first time.
Mr. Lee, from the Select committee, reported favorably a
bill entitled, an Act to empower the Mayor and City Coun-
cil of Baltimore city to levy an insurance tax within the city
limits;
Which was read the first time.
Mr. McCauley, from the committee on the Judiciary, re-
ported favorably a bill entitled, an Act supplementary to an
Act to incorporate the Baltimore Hebrew Congregation, pas-
sed at December Session, 1830;
Which was read the first time.
The bill entitled, an Act to incorporate the United States
Fire and Marine Insurance company of Baltimore;
Was read the third time, and passed by yeas and nays as
follow:
