and collegiate education, and which your memorialists now-
most respectfully seek from the State, they confidently hope
to revive in the future her past history of distinguished use-
fulness to the State and nation.

Mr. Smith of Dorchester presented a petition from the Hon-
Wm. S. Goldsborough, and other citizens of Dorchester coun-
ty asking the repeal of the Registration Law;
Which was read and referred to the committee on Registra-
tion.
Mr. Stewart presented a petition from William dark, Wil-
liam D. Warfield, and one hundred and forty-six other
citizens of the fifth election district of Howard county against
the passage of a law prohibiting the sale of intoxicating drinks
in said district;
Which was read and referred to the Howard county dele-
gation.
Mr. Rider presented a petition from the comity Commis;
sioncrs of Somerset county, praying the passage of a law for
a new assessment of property in this State, and an increase of
the compensation of the Commissioners.,
Which was read and referred to the committee on the Ju-
diciary.
Mr. Lusby presented a petition from Joseph Grover, and
other citizens of Ellicott's Mills for the incorporation of Elli-
cott's Mills under the name and title of Ellicott's City;
Which was read and referred to the Baltimore and Howard
county delegations.
Mr. Cronise presented a petition from Samuel McGraw, and
forty-five other citizens of Washington county, praying a law
to prevent the running of boats on the Chesapeake and Ohio'
Canal on the Sabbath;
Which was read and referred to the committee on the Ju-
diciary.
Mr. Fawcett presented a petition from Ulysses Griffith, and
other citizens of Montgomery county, in favor of the Chesa-
peake and Lake Erie Railroad company;
