Mr. Soper, from the committee on Ways and Means, re-
ported favorably a bill entitled, an Act to repeal sections 179
and 180 of article 30, of the Code of Public General Laws,
relating to Sabbath breaking, and to re-enact the same with
amendments'
Which was read the first time.
Mr. Poteet, from the committee on Claims, reported fa-
vorably Senate bill entitled, an Act for the benefit of the Rev.
John Gloyd as pastor of the Roman Catholic Church in the
city of Westminster, in the State of Maryland;
Which was read the second time.
Mr. Lusby, from the committee on Agriculture, reported
favorably, with amendments, the bill entitled, an Act amen-
datory of an Act entitled, an Act to establish and endow an
agricultural college in Maryland, passed at January session,
1856, chapter 97, and of a supplemental Act passed Janu-
ary session,. 1858, chapter 265;
Which was taken up for consideration on its second
reading.
Mr. Lusby submitted the following amendment:
Amend section 1, line 18, by inserting the word "equal"
between the words "Maryland" and "joint."
Which was adopted.
Also, the following amendment:
Amend section 2, line 6, by inserting the word "equal"
between the words "Maryland" and "joint;"
Which was adopted.
The said bill was then read the second time and ordered to
be engrossed for a third reading.
Mr. McCauley, from the committee on the Judiciary, re-
ported favorably a bill entitled an Act to carry into effect the
forty-ninth section of the third article of the constitution,
relating to marriage;
Which was read the first time.
Also, favorably with amendments, a bill entitled, an Act
to repeal section 31 to section 40, inclusive, of article six of
the Code of Public General Laws relating to apprentices,
Which was taken up for consideration on its second
reading.
Mr. McCauley submitted the following amendment:
