The Journal of yesterday was read and approved.
Mr. Eavey presented a petition from J. F. Smith and two
hundred citizens of Washington county, against legalizing
the appropriation to the Western Maryland Railroad;
Which was read and referred to the Washington county
delegation.
Mr. Buhrman presented a petition from the citizens of
Frederick county, Maryland, praying for the passage of a
law equalizing the State bounties paid to Volunteers;
Which was read and referred to the committee on Ways
and Means.
Mr, Mittag presented a petition from thirty tax payers of
Washington county, asking an increase of the per diem of the
Chief Bailiff to the Circuit court;
Which was read and referred to the Washington county
delegation.
Mr, Mules presented a petition from Thomas A. Kennard,
for compensation for services rendered in the Superior court
of Baltimore. "
Which was read and referred to the committee on Claims,
Mr. Mittag presented a petition from fifty ..three citizens of
Washington county asking an increase in the per diem of the
crier of the Circuit court;
Which was read and referred to the Washington county
delegation.
Mr, Markey presented a memorial from three hundred
citizens of Frederick, Montgomery and Washington counties,
praying for the passage of a bill to incorporate the Chesa-
peake and Lake Erie Railroad company;
Which was read and referred to the committee on Corpora-
tions.
Also, a memorial from citizens of Frederick county, pray-
ing the passage of a law to authorize the States Attornies of
