The Secretary of the Senate delivered the following mes-' sage: BY THE SENATE, January 10th, 1866. Gentlemen of the House of Delegates: A quorum of the Senate has assembled in pursuance of the proclamation of His Excellency, the Governor, and is now ready to proceed to business. We propose wih the concurrence of your Honorable Body, the appointment of a Joint committee of three members of the House and two on the part of the Senate, to wait on His Excellency, the Governor, and inform him that the Legislature is prepared So receive any communi- cation he may be pleased to make. We have appointed on the part of the Senate, Messrs. Ohr and Vickers. By order, C. HARWOOD, Secretary. Which was read. Mr. McCauley submitted the following message: BY THE HOUSE OF DELEGATES, January 10th, 1866. Gentlemen of the Senate: The House is now organized and is prepared to proceed with the business of the Session. We have appointed Messrs. McCauley, Smith, of Allegany, and Miller, of Anne Arundel, a committee on the part of the House to wait upon His Excellency, the Governor, and receive any communications he may have to make. By order, WM. R. COLE, Chief Clerk. Which was read, assented to and sent to the Senate. The committee after a short absence returned and reported that the Governor would communicate with the House to-mor- row by message, at 12 o'clock, M. |
