48 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Jan. 19, Mr. Tome submitted the following amendment: In line 11, section 1, strike out the words "said debts of the State," and insert in lieu thereof, the words "defense loan of January Session, 1865;" Which was read and adopted. On motion of Mr. Ohr, The bill was recommitted to the committee on Judicial Proceedings. Mr. Wells, from the committee on Judicial Proceedings, reported a bill in favor of the Rev. John Gloyd, of the Ro- man Catholic church of Westminster, Md. Which was read the first time; and, On motion of Mr. Billingslea, of Carroll, Was read the second time, three-fourths concurring; and, Ordered to be engrossed for a third reading; and; On motion of Mr. Wells, Was read the third time by special order, and passed by yeas and nays as follow: AFFIRMATIVE.
NEGATIVE—None. The said bill was then sent to the House of Delegates. Mr. Wells, from the committee on Judicial Proceedings, to which was referred the bill relating to the adoption of destitute children, Reported it without amendment; and the bill Was read the second time. Mr. Billingslea, of Carroll county, reported a bill relating to assessment; Which was read the first time; and, Ordered to be printed, and made the order of the day for Tuesday next, at 1 o'clock, |
