ary Session, eighteen hundred and sixty-five, Chap-
ter one hundred and fourteen, entitled, an Act to
repeal the tenth Section of Article eleven of the
Code of Public General Laws, relating to the oath
of Attorneys and other Practitioners of law, and
to enact a substitute therefor, and the tenth Sec-
tion of the eleventh Article of the Code of Public
General Laws, title Attorneys at Law and Attor-
neys in fact, sub-title Attorneys at Law, relating
to the oath and demeanor of Attorneys, be and the
same are hereby severally repealed, and that the
following be enacted in lieu of the said tenth Sec-
tion, to read as follows. |

at Law requir-
ed to take oath. |
Sec. 10. And be it enacted, That every At-
torney or other practitioner at law shall in open
Court take and subscribe the following oath or af-
firmation, I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I
will at all times demean myself fairly and honor-
obly as an Attorney and Practitioner at Law, that
I will bear true allegiance to the State of Mary-
land, and support the laws and Constitution there-
of, and that I will bear true allegiance to the
United States, and that I will support, protect and
defend the Constitution, Laws and Government
thereof as the Supreme Law of the Land; any law
or ordinance of this or any State to the contrary
notwithstanding. |

Sec. —. And be it enacted, That this Law shall
take effect from and after the date of its pass-
age. |
