CALVERT Co., Nov. 29, 1865.
The two boys are with me still. They attended Sabbath
.school up to the time it closed. They go to church every
Sabbath when weather permits. Their disposition and hab-
its are good, but in various degrees. O—'s aptness at his
employments I never saw his superior, but A—'s, I must
say, is quite the reverse; I can't get any thing out of him
unless I am always with him. I think, however, that both
have improved in every respect. So far, 0—'s general char-
acter for industry, obedience' and truthfuIness is excellent,
but I can't say the same of A., but still I think he will im-
prove. I have yet to find any fault with O., hut I have
great trouble with A., but I hope to make good and useful
men of both of them. F. B. S, B.
FREDERICK Co., Dec. 1, 1865,
H. has fully come up to my expectation and more, and he
is spoken well of by all who know him. He attended Sab-
bath school till its close, and attends church regularity. His
moral disposition and habits are good. He exhibits a fond-
ness for books as well as his employments. He has improved
very much in many respects. Ills character for industry is
good—lie is also obedient and truthful, and In's promise of
becoming a useful man is very good. He will go to school
for the winter, in a short time. ' W. 'W. W7.
(It.is sufficient to say of this hoy, that his home education
was received on the Causeway. In every respect, the result
of his commitment to the Refuge is most gratifying. A let-
ter from the boy himself will be found in its proper place
with the signature W. H. N.)
CALVERT Co., Dec..2, 1865.
I am very happy in .saying that, G. W. T. is now in good
-health. His conduct is still very good. I have had very lit-
tle trouble with him—not more than with my own children,
indeed I think he must be an exception to the general class
of boys at your Institution. He is very willing to learn to
work and is quite industrious. He is apt at his hooks and
shows a willingness to he taught the catechism and other re-
ligious exercises. I do not say that he has no fault—we all
have faults. Like most children he will vary a little in the
truth, but we try to induce him to be at all hazards very
