Average time those discharged were in the Institution— boys, 25 2-15 months; girls, 5 7/8 months. Average number in the Institution during the year—boys, 358 1/3-; girls, 44 1-12; total, 402|, Of the 54 boys indentured, 39 were to fanners, 5 to shoe- makers, 2 to tobacconists, and 1 each to baker, confectioner, bricklayer, paper box maker, blacksmith, telegraph; operator, harness maker and mariner. Of the 15 girls indentured 14 were to housewifery and 1 to a dress maker. Of the 151 boys and 20 girls received this year, were com- mitted by the Criminal Court of Baltimore city, 8 hoy s; by the Supreme Court of the District of Columbia, 1 boy; by the Circuit Court of Cecil county, 1 boy; by Justices of the Peace, 122 boys and 19 girls; and 19 boys and 1 girl as boarders. Of the above number, 6 boys were received from Balti- more county, 2 boys from Washington, and 1 boy from Cecil county. |
