Page, Clerk. Joshua H.W. Tilghman, a witness produced for the Claim- ant being duly sworn, answers and says, 1st. A. Twenty-four years'; been a voter three years; resided in 1865 in district No. 6. 2d. A. Did apply; took the oath; no witnesses; no charge was declared; four questions; answered all the questions; can't remember but three of the questions, they were, if ever I re- joiced at Southern victories, I answered no; then if ever I hurrahed for Jeff. Davis, said no; then if I ever was in the Confederate lines, I answered no; on the day after election I found I was not registered; I did think they would register me. 3d. A. Did not vote; would have voted for Franklin. 4th. Waived. Cross-Examination. 1st. A. Not that I know of. 2d. A. No, sir, 3d. A. No, sir. 4th. A. No, sir. |
