155 A, Don't feel disposed to answer. The above has been read to me and is correct. THOMAS ROBERTSON. Attested to and written by Henry Page, Clerk. Mr. James H. Vincent, a witness produced for the claim- ant, being duly sworn, answers and says, to the "Barren Creek Interrogatories:" To the first interrogatory: A. About ten years; been a voter for two years; resided in 1865 in Barren Creek district. 2d: A. Did apply, took the oath, and answered the questions; no witnesses; the Registers required me to prove my loyalty, and sent word to me not to do it. [The contestant objects to .; the latter part of the answer as hearsay.] I supposed I was a registered voter until the election. There were no charges against me. 3d. A. Would have voted, and for Franklin; did not vote. 4th. Waived. Cross-Examination: To the first interrogatory: A. I have answered those questions once, and do not feel disposed to answer again. 2d. . A. I decline to answer. 3d. A. I didn't know anything about the capture of Vicksburg at all. 4th. A. No, sir. 5th. |
