153 Bobert Langsdale, a witness produced on behalf of claim- ant, being duly sworn, answers and says to interrogatories filed and marked the "Barren Creek interrogatories :" To the first interrogatory,: A. 24 years my age; never cast a vote; resided in 1865 in Barren Creek district, and would have been a voter had I been registered. 2d: A. Did not apply while they were sitting; I was nt one of the register's house, (Mr. Holton's,) - and he told me it was not worth while for me to apply, that no democrat would be allowed to vote; that I had been in prison and ac- cused of running the blockade, that was all he said except that he wouldn't register me, and that was the reason I wouldn't apply. 3d: A. Did not vote; would have voted for Mr. Franklin. 4th: Waived. Cross-Examination: To the first cross-interrogatory: A. I decline to answer. 2d: A. I decline to answer; I don't think any one should want to know my private feelings. 3d: A. I refuse to answer. 4th: A. No, sir; I have not. 5th: A. No, sir; I have not, as I -remember of. Q. From the beginning of the war have not your sympa- thies been with those in rebellion against the United States ? A. I decline to answer. The above has been read to me and is correct.
