John H. Goddard, a witness produced on behalf of the
claimant, being duly sworn, answers and says to the general
interrogatories :
To the first interrogatory.
Ar Forty-five years—been a voter 24 years—resided in
1865 in Quantico District, No. 2.
2nd.
A. Did .apply—no charge, no witnesses—took the oath
and answered all the questions asked. After answering the
questions, one of the registers, Mr. Mills, said in reply to
the question aforesaid, that there was no charge against me
and probably would be none. That he didn't see how there
could be any, seeing that I had worked so long for the Gov-
ernment. I supposed I was registered as a voter until I
went up to vote and was not permitted.
3d.
A. Did not vote—would have voted for Mr. Franklin.
