Benjamin W. Truitt, a witness produced for the Claimant,
being duly sworn, answers and says:
1st, Interrogatory.
A. Since 1848, been a voter since that time, resided in
1865 in Quantico district, (No. 2.)
2nd. I did apply, and offered to take the oath and they
would not let me do it; was confronted with no witnesses and
notified of no charge. I asked expressly if they had any
charge against me, Mr. Pusey, one of the officers of Regis-
tration, said that because I had had my name entered two
'weeks before I offered to take the oath, he thought he had no
