121 Josiah W. Melson, a witness produced on behalf of claim- ant, being duly sworn, answers and says: To the first interrogatory. Twenty-eight years—been a voter twelve years—resided in 1866 in the 5th election district. .2nd. A. Did apply—was notified of no charge—confronted with no witnesses. 3d. .A. Voted at last election and for Mr. Franklin. 4th. Waived. Cross-examination: 1st. Have not your sympathies, during the war, been with those in rebellion? A. I had some sympathies with both. 2d. Which did you desire to succeed?, A. Whichever was right, and I did not know which that would be. 1st, 2d and 3d cross-interrogatories waived. 4th: A. No, not I recollect. 5th: A. No, sir.
