Did you leave St. Louis in 1802 or in 1803, at the instance of the military authorities, or for any political reason ? A. I did not. Since you have resided in Maryland, have you not desired or expressed a desire for the acknowledgment of the Con- federate States by any Foreign power ? A. I have not. Have you not desired, and expressed the desire for the ces- sation of hostilities, and the acknowledgment of the Confed- erate States by the United States Government ? A I have not. To the first Cross-interrogatory filed : A. I don't know I expressed any regret; I was very sorry any such battle ever took place. 2d: A. I did not. 3d: A. I did not. 4th: A. I have not. |
