I did vote; was not registered as a qualified voter; voted for Mr. Franklin. 4 th. Waived. Cross-Examination. Did you hear of the first battle of Bull Run, and where were you then ? A. I did hear of t; was in town. Did you feel or express any regret at the defeat of the Fed- eral army in that battle? A. I did not. Did vou feel or express any regret at the fall of Fort, Sum- ter ? did you feel or .express any gratification at the capture of Vicksburg? A. Don't think I did. Did you ever feel or express any gratification at the defeat ol the Confederate armies? A. Not that I know of. The cross-examination here closed of this witness. The above has been read to me, and is correct. LAFAYETTE ROSS. Tested and written by H. Page, Clerk. Joshua Lankford, a witness produced for J. R Franklin, being duly sworn, answers, and says : 1st. A. Forty-seven years; have been a voter for twenty-six years in Princess Anne District; resided there in 1865. 2d. A. Did so apply; was notified of no charge: confronted with no witnesses; officers told me I was disfranchised by the Board; took the required oath. |
