You say the board all knew Mr. Parsons; what do you know of his having said or done anything against the Government? A. I don't remember anything now. 43d. James M. Shockley was disqualified; do you know of anything that he had said or done contrary to the Consti- tution and laws of the State? A. I don't remember particularly now, but the board was satisfied, I guess. 44th. Thomas H. Wroten was disqualified, as appears by your testimony; so also was James M. Shockley; can you remember anything you testified against either? A. No; but I think the board was satisfied that they were rebel sympathisers. Re-direct: When an applicant for registration refused to take the oath, or convicted himself by his own statements before your board, what witness was it your custom to enter upon the book against him?
