He asked to see the oath, which we gave him, and after lie read it over, he said he could not take that oath, that he had taken" an oath at the election before, and if he took this one, lie should forswear himself. He did not think that any Christian could take the oath prescribed in the Constitution, and de- mended to be registered as a qualified voter, without taking the oath. I believe this is about all. 7th. What was said by your colleague, Mr. Phillips, or any one else, about democrats not being registered in the presence of Mr. Weight? A. I did not hear anything. 8th. Were you present when Beauchamp A. Wright ap- plied to your Board for registration? A. I do not consider that he did apply. 9th. What was done and said by Mr. B. A. Weight in the presence of the Board? A. Mr. Wright said he could not take the oath; told us to put his name and age down. 10th. In what form did you -administer that part of the oath prescribed by the Registry Law? A.
