trict preparatory to administering the oath required by law?
A. I cannot say wedid preparatory, we did It when at our
leisure, when not pressed with business.
7 the Did you enter on the seventh column th cause or rea-
son for the disqualification of all the persons whom you re-
jected as qualified voters?
A. Did not, because some came up and refused to take the

those not sworn, on the second column.

did not so enter?
A. I am not positive, but I think they were, except those
who did not apply at all.

witnesses by whom the disqualifying acts were proven, in all
cases ?
A. When there were witnesses we did. We did not need
witnesses in all cases.

name or names in said column in lieu of the name of the
person applying ?
A. I believe it did, when there were witnesses.

qualify any person or persons?
A. For disloyalty; one for non compos mentis.

disloyalty
A. Opposition to the lawful authority of the Government.

thority?
A. To coincide with and justify the Rebellion.

third, fourth and fifth sections of the first article of the Con-
stitution, of which evidence by the Act of Registration was
to be produced before you ?
