and there, before Thomas W. Stone and W. E. Jones, Judges of
said election, qualify as Judges of the election, as by law
directed, and did then and there, at the hour of nine o'clock
in the morning, open the polls for an election, for one per-
son as Judge of the Circuit Court, one person for Sheriff, three
persons for County Commissioners, and one person for Sur-
veyor; that we continued the polls open until six o'clock in
the evening of the same day, when they were closed, the
ballot box opened and the ballots publicly counted, when it
appeared that Thomas A. Spence had fifty-one votes, and
John R. Franklin had twenty-eight votes, and Joseph Coul-
bourn had fifty-one votes, and "William Howard had thirty
votes, and Thomas B. Moore had forty-seven votes, and
James Phoebus had fifty-two votes, and James K. Rayfield
fifty votes, and George Davey had thirty votes, and John
Elzey Fontaine had twenty-nine votes, and William J.
Langrall had thirty-eight votes, and C. C. Donoho had fifty-
two votes, and William F. W. Miles had thirty votes.
