more if you choose'. There are a number of persons here who
intend to settle in Maryland, and several started off last week
for that State, and intend to purchase there.
For myself, I wish to purchase a place of but few acres,
in the outskirts of Some thriving village, with good buildings,
different kinds of fruit near churches, Railroad, &c., and
should prefer it north of the latitude of Baltimore.
Any information you can give us will be thankfully re-
ceived, and much appreciated. '
Yours truly,
AUGUSTUS DOUD.
REXVILLE, Steuben county N. Y., May 26, 1865.
MR. W. R. COLE,
Dear Sir:—As there are some families here that wish to
emigrate I thought I would send for one of your statements
of the inducements for persons to provide a permanent loca-
tion in your State.
Your obedient servant,
J. D. HAMILTON.
KISHACOGUILLAS, Mifflin county, Penn.,
May 22, 1865.
W. R. COLE, ESQ.,
Dear Sir:—I noticed in the column of a "'Harrisburg Tele-
graph," an advertisement under your signature to parties
wishing to purchase farm lands in your State. Now sir, if
you send me on several of your pamphlets I will guarantee
you purchasers from this valley, ('-Kishacoguillas.") lam,
and feel a deep interest in aiding and assisting in the sale of
said lands.
Very respectfully, '
Your obedient servant,
JAMES BAILEY.
ROCHESTER, May 25, 1865.
Sir: _Having for some time been on the look out for some
place where I could, locate my family where the climate is not
so severe as this, I cannot see any State more to my purpose
than Maryland. I would, therefore, feel obliged by your
sending me the pamphlet mentioned in your article on
"Homes in Maryland."
Your earliest reply will much oblige sir,
Yours, very respectfully,
HENRY SAVAGE.
