Then Was this following Petition Read in Court.
To the Worll. the Comissioners of Somersett County the humble Petion of Michael.
Dunnahoe
Sheweth that your Petioner hath attended the Court six dayes as an Evidence on the
behalfe of Peter Whaples, agt Lawrence Crawford for the which time your petioner
Craves Orders agt the sd Whaples and your Petioner as in duty shall ever pray &c.
The abovesd Petion Was granted. Order that Whaples pay unto the sd Michael: Dunnahoe.
for six dayes attendance according to Act of Assembly. - - - - - - -

John Vigorous being Summoned to this Court, and being called doth not appear for wch he
is excused. it being made appearant the dangerous Condition his Wife lay in at home

To their Maties Worll. Justices of Peace in Court Sitting The humble Petions William
Coulborne. Stephen: Horsey Nathaniel: Horsey and John: West humbly sheweth.

That Whereas mrs. Katherine Revell dying intestate having left a Considerable personall Estate
amongst
her Children which Estate is unjustly deteined from your Petioners by mr Randall Revell (who
never
the less sayes) that if this Worll. Court pleases to grant an Order, he will pay to each Petioner
his proportionall part. for which Order your Petioners humbly Craves. the premisses considered
your Petioners will pray &c. Which Petion was not granted but order to continue ye
(same)


Somersett County Ssc. To the Worll their Maties Justices of the Peace for the County of Somerset
the
humble Petition of Michael: Holland humbly sheweth
That your Petioner being Master of Capt Henry Smiths vessell and at the Island
of Barbados did take a board One paire of Cart wheels with furniture belonging
to mr James Round, Gent and the same did saifly (by the Grace of God) bring in
the said vessell to Monokin River in this County and left in Capt Smiths Custody with
the
rest of the Loading, now your Petioner hath been sued by the sd mr James Round and
recovered the same but cannot satisfie the order. by reason the said Smith doth unjustly
deteine the same both from ye right owner and your Petioner upon what pretext ye
petioner
knows not Therefore your petioner, craves your Worships Order for the delivery of the
said Cart wheels and furniture in the same condition your petioner left them and your
petioner shall in duty pray.
The petion being read in Court and Capt Henry Smith being present, told the Court he understood
not Hollands way of proceeding by Petition, lett him proceed according to Law (sd Smith) and
I shall be ready to answer and there upont the matter ended. - - - - - - - - - - - - -


Capt. David: Browne plt. The plt and defendt both appearing, the defendt promising to
agt give the plt good security before next Court, to pay debt and
David: Harris. defendt Charges he next fall and therefore the defendt was dismist



Ordered that Margery Clark Servant to Nicholas Tyler appear next Court
to prosecute Capt. John: Winder, who she sayes has wronged her in
her Servitude.

Their Majesties This following Indictment being Read, to which the said Maud
agt. Pleads guilty and for her tryall referrs her selfe to Court
Maud. Mc.Gowen.

Somersett County Ssc. the Jurors for their Maties. being Sworne upon the holy Evangelists
att a Grand Jury held for the body of this County doe present and find that Maud Mcgowen
Woman Servant to Edward Wale of this County hath most wickedly, sinfully and shamefully
Comitted fornication and borne a Basterd Child to the great dishonour of Allmighty God scandall
and evill Example of the good people of this Province and agt the established laws thereof
their Maties. Attorney craves judgment may be entered against the sd Offender as in Law previded
James: Sangster Clk Indt.
The Court demands of the sd Maud who is the ffather
of her last Basterd Child, but the sd Maud refuseing to tell the ffather for which contempt
she of Ordered ten lashes being part of her punishment which accordingly performed
by Roger Burkham Sub sheriffe. - - - - - Afterwards the sd Maud was brought
to Court again, and being further examined, seemed very Submissive, and willing to
Sweare to the ffather, which according to her Oath now in Court is John: Anderson
and therefore for her free confession the Court Only Orders her five lashes more wch
was was likewise performed. - - - - - The Court further Orders that the said
Maud stay with mr Whaley and give him Security for Court Charges and damages. -


The Court adjourns till 9: a Clock next day.

John: ffreeman Enters into Recognizance of ten pound Sterling money to pay all Court fees
that is due by occasion of Eliz:Puddiford her Basterd bearing ----Richard Warren and Roger Burkham
Obliges them selves them selves in five pound sterling a peece for Puddifords good behaviour dureing
the Court pleasure.Pud.in 10,. The Condition of which Recognizance is Such that if the above bound
ffreeman pay all Court Charges as above, and that Warren and Burkham see that Puddiford be
of good behaviour and abearance to all their Maties. good Good people of this Province then their -
Recognizance voyd otherwayes to be and remain in full power force and vertue.
