Samuel: Hopkins;. mr. Edmund. Howard - - - - - folio 200. mr. Tho: Jones & Capt. Jno. King appeare & sitts Court Somerset County in Maryland To the worll Justices of their Maties Peace now sitting for this County of Somerset, The Petion of Peter Adams. humbly sheweth. That whereas your Petioners ffather in his last will before wittnesses, desired that all his Children or any of them who desired to live upon the Plantation that Samuel: Heydon now liveth upon should not by any man be disturbed in living upon the said Plantation. But may it please your worps so it is that Samuel Heydon hath contrary to your Petioner his ffathers last will hath turned your Petioner with my Brother away and will not Suffer us to live upon the said plantation your humble Petioner craves your worps judgment there in &. your Petioner as in duty bound shall ever pray &c. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - The Court having undestood of Sundry abuses comitted agt the sd Heydon by the above sd Peter: Adams. do Order the sd Adams to give Security for his good behaviour dureing pleasure Whereupon came the sd Peter: Adams. And pr Recognizance did confess him Selfe to be indebted unto their Maties in the sum of ten pounds sterling money to be leavied upon his goods Chattels & tenements also came his Securities viz Joseph: Venables and Thomas Everton and did likewise confess them Selves to be indebted in the sum of five pounds a piece to be leavied as above for thier Maties uses &c. The Condition of which Recognizance is Such that if the above bound Peter Adams be of the good be haviour and abearance to all their Maties. Leige People of this Province, but more espetially to Samuel: Heydon dureing the Courts preasure then this Recognizance to be void, otherwayes to be and remain in full force and vertue. Somerset Ssc. / To the worll. Court now sitting. The humble Petition of John:Strawbridge humbly sheweth unto your worps, that your petioner hath had some suits of Law lately depending in this Court and could not gett an attorney to appear or plead for him, so it is my it please your worps to admit your Petioner, to be an Attorney in this Court, and as in duty bound he shall ever pray &c. The above sd Petion granted, and the sd Strawbridge tooke Oath of Attorney at Law John: Davies. Plt. per Petion To the worll. their Maties Justices of the Peace, the humble petion of Jno. Davies agt. humbly sheweth. That whereas your peteioner hath been a Servant about C Wm: Henderson.Deft years in this County and in Virginia, & no consideration allowed to ye petioner - - - - - - - - - - but from one Master to another assigned, so that your petioner may and is a Servant for life, and therefore your petioner craves it may be by your worps enquired whether yr petioner may be bought and sold as a Slave without any kind of Consideration, having a --- that is new ready to come upon the County And upon yr worps Cristian Consideration shall humbly crave your petioner may be Senssible how he came to be so caused a Servant, and your petioner Shall in duty pray.
