Wittness Richard: Hill John ff-rs - - - - - - - - the marke of Arthur AH Hill Bill Sworne to by mr Peter Dent and mr Lawrence Crawford Declaran being read and the sd Hill being called, but making no answer nor appearance to his second Writt / Order therefore was / granted for Attachment according to Act. - - - - - - - - William: Willmot Plt. Somerset County Ss / Peter Lowder late of Somerset County was agt. attached to answer unto William: Willmott of a plea of trespass Peter: Lowder. Deft upon the Case . - - - - - And whereupon the said William by Peter Dent his Attorney complaineth that whereas the sd Peter Lowder the 18th. day of July in the yeare of our Lord 1689. at Monocan within the Jurisdiction Of this Court was indebted to the said William in the sum of three bushels of wheat being Six quarts of Rum and three pounds and three quarters of Suger before that time sold & delivered and the sd Peter to the sd William in manner aforesd being indebted the sd Peter in Consideration thereof did assume upon him Selfe and to the said William then and there faithfully Promise that he the said Peter the said three bushels of Wheat when he should be thereunto requested, would well and truly Content and Pay. Nevertheless the sd Peter his promiss and assumption aforesd not regarding but minding and fraudulently intending the sd William in this behalfe Craftily and Subtilly to deceive and defraud the sd three bushells of wheat or any part thereof to the said William hath not paid, although the sd Peter to doe the same by the said William afterwards was requested, but the same to pay hath refused and still doth refuse to the damage of the sd William of 1000 Pounds of tobacco and thereof he bringeth his Suit &c. To 6 qts of Rum and 3: of Shuger at three bushells of Wheat Memo that on the 10 day of Janry in the year of our Lord 1689 Came Hannah: Emet before us under written two of his Maties Justices of the Peace for the County of Somerset in the Province of Maryland and made Oath that the above is a just and true (account) and that she delivered the above perticulers in the behalfe of mr William.
